Planning a destination wedding means juggling travel logistics, coordinating out of town guests, and making sure everyone has a place to stay after the celebration ends. At The Overlook at KC Bison Ranch, we solve one of the biggest challenges couples face: keeping your closest family and friends close by throughout your entire wedding weekend.
Our five modern lodges accommodate up to 41 guests overnight, transforming a single day event into a true destination experience. Located between Dahlonega and Cleveland, Georgia, our venue offers the scenic mountain backdrop couples dream about without requiring extensive travel planning.
When your ceremony ends and the reception wraps up, the last thing anyone wants is a long drive back to a hotel. With overnight accommodations right on the property, your wedding party and closest family members can walk from the reception hall to their lodges. No designated drivers, no ride coordination, no worrying about guests navigating unfamiliar mountain roads after dark.
This setup works particularly well for couples coming from Metro Atlanta, Florida, or North Carolina. Your out of state guests arrive on Friday, settle into their lodge, and have the entire weekend to explore the Blue Ridge Mountains. They experience your wedding celebration without the stress of same day travel or checkout times.
Traditional weddings compress everything into a few rushed hours. With on-site lodging, you gain the flexibility to spread your celebration across multiple days. Host a welcome dinner on Friday evening around the firepit. Wake up Saturday morning for coffee on the covered patios overlooking vineyards and pastures. After the ceremony and reception, gather for a casual brunch on Sunday morning before everyone heads home.
The lodges give you space to spend quality time with the people who matter most. Your bridesmaids can get ready together in the bridal suite while staying steps away from their accommodations. The groomsmen have their own dedicated lounge and can retreat to nearby lodges between events. Parents and grandparents appreciate having comfortable, private spaces without sacrificing proximity to the action.
Booking a hotel block in Dahlonega or Cleveland means your guests scatter across different properties. You lose the intimacy of having everyone together in one location. Our lodges keep your group unified on the 61 acre estate, surrounded by the same mountain views and natural beauty that drew you to The Overlook at KC Bison Ranch in the first place.
Each lodge features modern amenities and rustic charm that match the venue's overall aesthetic. Guests wake up to panoramic views of the property, including our roaming bison, which creates unique photo opportunities and conversation starters throughout the weekend. The lodges blend seamlessly with the elegant, wide open setting couples choose for their wedding day.
Florida couples seeking mountain views and North Carolina couples looking for a unique venue both benefit from our overnight accommodations. The lodges eliminate the need for guests to book separate hotels, simplifying your planning process and keeping costs predictable for everyone involved.
We also see remote teams and corporate groups taking advantage of the multi-day retreat possibilities. Stay focused on team building activities without the distraction of daily commutes. Our vendor coordinator and our planning team handle all the details while your group enjoys uninterrupted time together.
With on-site lodging, you control the timeline. Arrive early to prepare without rushing. Stay late to enjoy every moment. The climate controlled venue offers access from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and having lodges on the property means you maximize that entire window without worrying about guest departure schedules.
The combination of our all-inclusive packages and overnight accommodations creates a stress free experience from start to finish. Your coordination team manages vendor logistics, catering, photography, DJ services, and bartending while you focus on celebrating with the people who traveled to be part of your special day.
On-site lodging transforms your wedding from a single event into a complete experience. Your guests remember the conversations around the firepit, the sunrise over the vineyards, and the relaxed moments between formal celebrations just as vividly as the ceremony itself.

Kim Chapman, a Georgia native and UGA graduate, is a first-generation rancher. To embrace this new way of life, Kim sold a successful business and left life on Lake Lanier to move to the mountains and embark on this new venture. He has a son, Kyle, and a daughter, Kaci, both in their mid-twenties. As a child, one of Kim’s favorite hobbies was collecting buffalo nickels, and he has always been a lover of big animals. This is evidenced by his canine companions, a Great Pyrenees named Prince, and a Leonberger named Samson. He is excited to offer his God-given resources to others and watch them multiply.
